What you are agreeing to

Using ricepuritytestkit.com means accepting the terms below. They apply to every visitor; there is no account to create, so opening a page is the acceptance. If you disagree with any of it, the remedy is to stop using the site — nothing here is held hostage behind a login.

Entertainment only, not advice

The tests are a party questionnaire. They are not medical, psychological, legal, educational or professional advice, and no result should be treated as a finding about you. The list has never been validated, measures no recognised construct and predicts nothing.

Do not use a score to make a decision that matters — about a relationship, a diagnosis, a treatment, a hiring choice, an admission or a legal position. If your answers to the questions about alcohol, drugs, sex or self-harm worry you, speak to a doctor or a qualified counsellor. A checklist that gives everyone the same hundred items cannot know your circumstances.

Age requirements

The classic hundred-question Rice Purity Test contains explicit questions about sexual activity and drug use and is intended for people aged 18 and over. The teen version is written for ages 13 to 17 without explicit items. The site does not verify age; taking the classic test is your confirmation that you are 18 or older, and a parent or guardian should be aware of a minor using the teen version.

No warranty on scores or statistics

The site is provided as is, with no warranty of any kind. Scores are calculated from what you check and nothing else; a mistyped answer produces a wrong number and there is no way to correct it after submission.

The averages, medians, percentiles and distributions on the statistics page come from voluntary, unverified, anonymous submissions by people who chose to visit this site. That is not a random sample of any population, joke entries are impossible to filter out, and the same person can submit repeatedly. Treat the numbers as a description of what has been submitted here, not as a fact about students, a country or an age group. We do not warrant that they are accurate, complete or continuously available.

The per-question percentages on the question breakdown carry the same warning twice over. They count only the visitors who ticked the optional sharing box, which is off by default, so they describe a self-selected group inside an already self-selected group. Everything on this site is provided as is and none of it is research: do not cite these figures as a study, a survey or evidence of how any population behaves, and do not present them as such to anyone else.

Acceptable use

You agree not to:

• submit automated, scripted or bulk results, or otherwise try to move the averages, the distributions or the per-question percentages away from what people actually submitted;
• scrape or bulk-collect the statistics and the per-question counters, mirror or republish the site’s pages at scale, or place it in a frame presented as your own;
• attempt to interfere with the servers, probe for vulnerabilities beyond good-faith responsible disclosure, or overload the API;
• use the site to harass, pressure or expose another person, including demanding someone’s score or publishing it;
• use it in any way that breaks the law where you are.

Access may be rate-limited or blocked when traffic threatens the site’s availability or the integrity of the statistics. Submissions are rate-limited and carry a short-lived signed token so that one script cannot post thousands of results; those measures exist for the reason above, and rejecting a submission does not mean we know who sent it — the privacy policy describes what those checks hold, which is nothing that identifies anyone.

Intellectual property

The hundred-item purity questionnaire is a long-standing campus questionnaire tradition with no documented author and no identified first edition. We claim no ownership of it, and this site’s version is one reading of a document with no authoritative original. The name of Rice University is used descriptively; the site is not affiliated with the university in any way.

The rest is ours: the explanatory copy, the score pages, the band definitions and their wording, the site design, the code and the compiled statistics. Do not republish those wholesale. Short quotations with a link back are welcome and need no permission; for anything larger, ask at [email protected].

Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent the law allows, we are not liable for any indirect, incidental or consequential loss arising from using this site or relying on anything on it — including decisions made on the basis of a score or a statistic, distress caused by the content of the questions, or any interruption of the service. Where liability cannot be excluded, it is limited to the amount you paid to use the site, which is nothing.

Nothing here excludes liability that cannot legally be excluded, such as for fraud or for death or personal injury caused by negligence.

Availability and changes

The site may be offline for maintenance or without notice. Questions, band labels and explanatory text may be revised as wording is corrected, which means a score taken today and one taken next year are not guaranteed to have been produced by an identical list.

These terms may change. The current version always sits on this page with its date at the top, and continuing to use the site after a change means accepting the revised version.

Governing law

This document nominates no governing law and no exclusive forum. The site is free, has no accounts and takes no payments, so there is no contract here worth dragging anyone across a border for. Any dispute is therefore governed by whichever law already applies to you where you live, and by the courts that would hear it there. Consumer protections in your own country apply in full and are not waived by anything above.
