Innocence Test

Anyone who wants a life-experience score they can compare at a family dinner. Scored the second you finish.

One hundred experiences, one point each, from your first passport stamp to the first funeral you sat through. It reaches past sex and substances into work, money, driving, grief and adrenaline, so a low score here means a full life rather than a wild one. Answers stay in your browser; only the number is submitted.

  • 100 questions, about 8 minutes
  • No signup, no email
  • Only your score is sent — answers stay in your browser unless you tick the box

Check every statement you have done. Leave the rest blank — unanswered counts as no.

How the score works

You start at 100. Every statement you check costs 1 point.

There is no weighting and no hidden algorithm: 100 statements, 1 point each, 100 minus what you checked. Check every one and you finish on 0. Check nothing and you keep the full 100. A low number means more of the list has happened to you, not that you did anything wrong.

What the number does not measure: it counts experiences you have had, so it says nothing about your character, your values, your health or how good a partner, friend or student you are.

Three other versions of the same idea

Same arithmetic, different question lists. Each one is scored and stored separately, so your results do not mix.

Questions people actually ask

What is the difference between the Innocence Test and the Rice Purity Test?

Subject matter, not length — both lists run 100 statements on the same 0-100 scale. The Rice version spends most of its questions on sex, alcohol and campus rule-breaking; here exactly one statement mentions alcohol and none ask about sex. The space goes to travel, driving, work, money, injury, performing and loss instead, so two people whose Rice scores are identical can finish far apart on this one.

How is the innocence score calculated?

You begin at 100 and each statement you check subtracts 1 point. Nothing is weighted, so an item most people check costs exactly as much as one almost nobody does. Check every statement and you finish at 0.

Is a high innocence score good?

The scale has no good end. A high number means fewer of these particular experiences have happened to you, which is mostly a function of age, opportunity and what you have chosen to spend time on. People read the top of the scale as virtue and the bottom as failure, and neither reading survives looking at what the questions actually ask.

How long does it take?

About 8 minutes for most people — 100 checkboxes and no free text. There is no timer and no submit gate, so you can leave items unchecked if you are unsure; an unchecked box simply costs you nothing. Your score appears the moment you finish, without an email or an account.

Can I retake it later and compare?

Yes, and this is the one use of the test that holds up. Because the questions ask whether something has ever happened, your score can only fall over time, which makes the drop between two dates a rough record of a stretch of life. Every result you get is kept on your history page, stored in your own browser.
