Rice Purity Test score 60: Average Explorer

Is 60 a good score?

There is no good or bad Rice Purity Test score. 60 means 40 of the 100 items were checked and 60 were left unchecked: the test opens at 100 and removes a point for each item you have done, so the number counts situations you have been in, not merit. Two people on 60 can have checked completely different items.

The middle of the scale: a third to just under half the list applied.

Scores here usually span dating, drinking and part of the sexual block while leaving the drug and arrest questions empty. Both halves of the list are in play, neither of them finished.

What checking 40 boxes actually covers

Scoring 60 means 40 of the 100 questions were answered yes. The list escalates as it goes, so a 60 usually covers all of romance & dating and online & modern life, with sexual experience and parties & nightlife partly checked.

Where 40 checks reach on the classic list

  • 38.Received oral sex?
  • 39.Ingested someone else's genital secretion?
  • 40.Used a sex toy with a partner?

41.Spent the night with a MPS? — the first item a 60 leaves unchecked.

Question order is fixed, so this is where the count lands, not a guess about you.

A 60 sits 10 points above the halfway mark of the scale, so more of the questionnaire is still unchecked than checked.

What a 60 rules out

60 is reachable on all seven lists here, but it costs a different amount of life on each: 40 ticks on a hundred-item list like the Rice Purity Test, and 20 on a fifty-item one like the College Purity Test, where every tick costs two points. Same number, half the statements.

Because the order of the questions is fixed, 40 checks leaves 3 blocks of the questionnaire untouched from the first item to the last: alcohol & drugs (7 questions, first at 44), rule-breaking & mischief (4 questions, first at 47) and law & consequences (8 questions, first at 59). A 60 says nothing about any of them, which is worth remembering before reading the number as a description of somebody.

On the band chart, 60 sits 5 points into Average Explorer (55–69). 6 more checks move it down to 54 and into Experienced. One fewer would have been 61, and 70 is where Curious begins.

Which parts of the list 40 checks can come from

All 40 checks could sit outside the sexual block, since 40 of the 100 statements do. Whether they actually do is the part a score cannot tell you. Each block below links to its opening question, and every statement has its own page.

One point either way

Is 60 a bad Rice Purity Test score?

No, and not because 60 is a comfortable number — because “bad” is not something this scale measures. It counts how many of 100 statements you have done, one point each, with the heaviest item on the sheet worth exactly what holding hands is worth. 60 means 40 statements applied to you and 60 did not. That is the entire claim it makes.

What it cannot tell you is which 40. Two people on 60 can have ticked entirely different statements — the score is a count, so it holds the number and drops the rest. If you are comparing yourself to someone, the comparison is only meaningful against a score from the same 100-statement list, and even then it compares two counts, not two lives.

Only one of those three numbers can ever change. The list is past tense, so a checked statement stays checked and a retake can move the score down and never up — Curious, which starts at 70, is behind you for good. Ticking 6 more of the 100 statements would put you at 54, the top of Experienced.

Questions people actually ask

What does a Rice Purity Test score of 60 mean?

60 falls in the Average Explorer band. Scoring 60 means 40 of the 100 questions were answered yes. The list escalates as it goes, so a 60 usually covers all of romance & dating and online & modern life, with sexual experience and parties & nightlife partly checked.

Is 60 a bad Rice Purity Test score?

No — "bad" is not a property the scale has. 60 means 40 of the 100 statements applied to you and 60 did not, at one point each, with no statement weighted above another. It is a count of experiences on one particular list, not a rating of them, and it cannot say which 40 you ticked.

How many more questions would move a 60 out of the Average Explorer band?

6. Average Explorer runs from 55 to 69, so ticking 6 more of the 100 statements takes the score to 54, the top of Experienced. It cannot move the other way: the statements are past tense, so a checked one stays checked.

How many questions does a score of 60 mean you checked?

40. Each of the 100 statements is worth one point, so the score is 100 minus the number of boxes ticked.
