Rice Purity Test score 65: Average Explorer
Is 65 a good score?
There is no good or bad Rice Purity Test score. 65 means 35 of the 100 items were checked and 65 were left unchecked: the test opens at 100 and removes a point for each item you have done, so the number counts situations you have been in, not merit. Two people on 65 can have checked completely different items.
The middle of the scale: a third to just under half the list applied.
Scores here usually span dating, drinking and part of the sexual block while leaving the drug and arrest questions empty. Both halves of the list are in play, neither of them finished.
What checking 35 boxes actually covers
Scoring 65 means 35 of the 100 questions were answered yes. The list escalates as it goes, so a 65 usually covers all of romance & dating and online & modern life, with sexual experience and parties & nightlife partly checked.
Where 35 checks reach on the classic list
- 33.Sent or received sexually explicit photographs?
- 34.Engaged in sexually explicit activity over video chat?
- 35.Cheated on a significant other during a relationship?
36.Purchased contraceptives? — the first item a 65 leaves unchecked.
Question order is fixed, so this is where the count lands, not a guess about you.
A 65 sits 15 points above the halfway mark of the scale, so more of the questionnaire is still unchecked than checked.
What a 65 rules out
65 is an odd number, and four of the seven lists on this site hold 50 questions worth two points each — they can only land on even totals. So a 65 cannot have come from the Teen Purity Test, Couples Purity Test, College Purity Test, LGBTQ Purity Test. It is reachable on Rice Purity Test (35 ticks), Innocence Test (35 ticks) and AO3 Purity Test (35 ticks).
Because the order of the questions is fixed, 35 checks leaves 3 blocks of the questionnaire untouched from the first item to the last: alcohol & drugs (7 questions, first at 44), rule-breaking & mischief (4 questions, first at 47) and law & consequences (8 questions, first at 59). A 65 says nothing about any of them, which is worth remembering before reading the number as a description of somebody.
On the band chart, 65 sits 10 points into Average Explorer (55–69). 11 more checks move it down to 54 and into Experienced. One fewer would have been 66, and 70 is where Curious begins.
Which parts of the list 35 checks can come from
All 35 checks could sit outside the sexual block, since 40 of the 100 statements do. Whether they actually do is the part a score cannot tell you. Each block below links to its opening question, and every statement has its own page.
One point either way
Is 65 a bad Rice Purity Test score?
No, and not because 65 is a comfortable number — because “bad” is not something this scale measures. It counts how many of 100 statements you have done, one point each, with the heaviest item on the sheet worth exactly what holding hands is worth. 65 means 35 statements applied to you and 65 did not. That is the entire claim it makes.
What it cannot tell you is which 35. Two people on 65 can have ticked entirely different statements — the score is a count, so it holds the number and drops the rest. If you are comparing yourself to someone, the comparison is only meaningful against a score from the same 100-statement list, and even then it compares two counts, not two lives.
How far 65 sits from the edges of Average Explorer
Only one of those three numbers can ever change. The list is past tense, so a checked statement stays checked and a retake can move the score down and never up — Curious, which starts at 70, is behind you for good. Ticking 11 more of the 100 statements would put you at 54, the top of Experienced.
65 against the full scale
9 bands cover 0 to 100. These are the Average Explorer row that holds 65 and what sits either side of it — the full chart is on the score page.
| Score | Band | What the number describes | Detail page |
|---|---|---|---|
| 70–84 | Curious | Dating is behind you and the bolder questions have started to land.Roughly a sixth to a third of the list applied — enough to clear the romance block and reach the first questions about drinking or sex, with the drug and law-breaking end untouched. | Score 77 — Curious example page |
| 55–69 — the band your score falls in | Average Explorer | The middle of the scale: a third to just under half the list applied.Scores here usually span dating, drinking and part of the sexual block while leaving the drug and arrest questions empty. Both halves of the list are in play, neither of them finished. | Score 62 — Average Explorer example page |
| 40–54 | Experienced | About half the list applied.Reaching this range takes more than one block: the sexual questions are largely checked and the substance questions have started. The far end of the list — arrests, hard drugs — is still mostly empty. | Score 47 — Experienced example page |
Questions people actually ask
What does a Rice Purity Test score of 65 mean?
65 falls in the Average Explorer band. Scoring 65 means 35 of the 100 questions were answered yes. The list escalates as it goes, so a 65 usually covers all of romance & dating and online & modern life, with sexual experience and parties & nightlife partly checked.
Is 65 a bad Rice Purity Test score?
No — "bad" is not a property the scale has. 65 means 35 of the 100 statements applied to you and 65 did not, at one point each, with no statement weighted above another. It is a count of experiences on one particular list, not a rating of them, and it cannot say which 35 you ticked.
How many more questions would move a 65 out of the Average Explorer band?
11. Average Explorer runs from 55 to 69, so ticking 11 more of the 100 statements takes the score to 54, the top of Experienced. It cannot move the other way: the statements are past tense, so a checked one stays checked.
How many questions does a score of 65 mean you checked?
35. Each of the 100 statements is worth one point, so the score is 100 minus the number of boxes ticked.
