Rice Purity Test score 26: Wild Card

Is 26 a good score?

There is no good or bad Rice Purity Test score. 26 means 74 of the 100 items were checked and 26 were left unchecked: the test opens at 100 and removes a point for each item you have done, so the number counts situations you have been in, not merit. Two people on 26 can have checked completely different items.

Three fifths to three quarters of the list applied.

Getting this far needs checks in every block — romance, sex, substances, and some of the risk and law-breaking questions. No single section of the list can carry a score this low on its own.

What checking 74 boxes actually covers

Scoring 26 means 74 of the 100 questions were answered yes. The list escalates as it goes, so a 26 usually covers all of romance & dating, parties & nightlife, online & modern life, alcohol & drugs, rule-breaking & mischief and law & consequences, with sexual experience partly checked.

Where 74 checks reach on the classic list

  • 72.Had sexual intercourse with a stranger or person you met within 24 hours?
  • 73.Had sexual intercourse in a motor vehicle?
  • 74.Had sexual intercourse outdoors?

75.Had sexual intercourse in public? — the first item a 26 leaves unchecked.

Question order is fixed, so this is where the count lands, not a guess about you.

A 26 sits 24 points below the halfway mark of the scale, so more of the questionnaire is checked than not.

What a 26 rules out

26 is reachable on all seven lists here, but it costs a different amount of life on each: 74 ticks on a hundred-item list like the Rice Purity Test, and 37 on a fifty-item one like the College Purity Test, where every tick costs two points. Same number, half the statements.

At 74 checks there is no block of the questionnaire left untouched: the count has reached every section, from the opening romance questions to the last items on the sheet. That is what separates the bottom of the scale from the rest of it — not intensity, but coverage.

On the band chart, 26 sits 1 point into Wild Card (25–39). 2 more checks move it down to 24 and into Veteran. One fewer would have been 27, and 40 is where Experienced begins.

Which parts of the list 74 checks can come from

Only 40 of the 100 statements sit outside the sexual block, so 74 checks means at least 34 of them are sexual items — that part is arithmetic, not inference. Each block below links to its opening question, and every statement has its own page.

One point either way

Is 26 a bad Rice Purity Test score?

No, and not because 26 is a comfortable number — because “bad” is not something this scale measures. It counts how many of 100 statements you have done, one point each, with the heaviest item on the sheet worth exactly what holding hands is worth. 26 means 74 statements applied to you and 26 did not. That is the entire claim it makes.

What it cannot tell you is which 74. Two people on 26 can have ticked entirely different statements — the score is a count, so it holds the number and drops the rest. If you are comparing yourself to someone, the comparison is only meaningful against a score from the same 100-statement list, and even then it compares two counts, not two lives.

Only one of those three numbers can ever change. The list is past tense, so a checked statement stays checked and a retake can move the score down and never up — Experienced, which starts at 40, is behind you for good. Ticking 2 more of the 100 statements would put you at 24, the top of Veteran.

Questions people actually ask

What does a Rice Purity Test score of 26 mean?

26 falls in the Wild Card band.

Is 26 a bad Rice Purity Test score?

No — "bad" is not a property the scale has. 26 means 74 of the 100 statements applied to you and 26 did not, at one point each, with no statement weighted above another. It is a count of experiences on one particular list, not a rating of them, and it cannot say which 74 you ticked.

How many more questions would move a 26 out of the Wild Card band?

2. Wild Card runs from 25 to 39, so ticking 2 more of the 100 statements takes the score to 24, the top of Veteran. It cannot move the other way: the statements are past tense, so a checked one stays checked.

How many questions does a score of 26 mean you checked?

74. Each of the 100 statements is worth one point, so the score is 100 minus the number of boxes ticked.
