Rice Purity Test score 35: Wild Card

Is 35 a good score?

There is no good or bad Rice Purity Test score. 35 means 65 of the 100 items were checked and 35 were left unchecked: the test opens at 100 and removes a point for each item you have done, so the number counts situations you have been in, not merit. Two people on 35 can have checked completely different items.

Three fifths to three quarters of the list applied.

Getting this far needs checks in every block — romance, sex, substances, and some of the risk and law-breaking questions. No single section of the list can carry a score this low on its own.

What checking 65 boxes actually covers

Scoring 35 means 65 of the 100 questions were answered yes. The list escalates as it goes, so a 35 usually covers all of romance & dating, parties & nightlife, online & modern life, alcohol & drugs and rule-breaking & mischief, with sexual experience and law & consequences partly checked.

Where 65 checks reach on the classic list

  • 63.Been arrested?
  • 64.Been convicted of a crime?
  • 65.Been convicted of a felony?

66.Committed an act of vandalism? — the first item a 35 leaves unchecked.

Question order is fixed, so this is where the count lands, not a guess about you.

A 35 sits 15 points below the halfway mark of the scale, so more of the questionnaire is checked than not.

What a 35 rules out

35 is an odd number, and four of the seven lists on this site hold 50 questions worth two points each — they can only land on even totals. So a 35 cannot have come from the Teen Purity Test, Couples Purity Test, College Purity Test, LGBTQ Purity Test. It is reachable on Rice Purity Test (65 ticks), Innocence Test (65 ticks) and AO3 Purity Test (65 ticks).

At 65 checks there is no block of the questionnaire left untouched: the count has reached every section, from the opening romance questions to the last items on the sheet. That is what separates the bottom of the scale from the rest of it — not intensity, but coverage.

On the band chart, 35 sits 10 points into Wild Card (25–39). 11 more checks move it down to 24 and into Veteran. One fewer would have been 36, and 40 is where Experienced begins.

Which parts of the list 65 checks can come from

Only 40 of the 100 statements sit outside the sexual block, so 65 checks means at least 25 of them are sexual items — that part is arithmetic, not inference. Each block below links to its opening question, and every statement has its own page.

One point either way

Is 35 a bad Rice Purity Test score?

No, and not because 35 is a comfortable number — because “bad” is not something this scale measures. It counts how many of 100 statements you have done, one point each, with the heaviest item on the sheet worth exactly what holding hands is worth. 35 means 65 statements applied to you and 35 did not. That is the entire claim it makes.

What it cannot tell you is which 65. Two people on 35 can have ticked entirely different statements — the score is a count, so it holds the number and drops the rest. If you are comparing yourself to someone, the comparison is only meaningful against a score from the same 100-statement list, and even then it compares two counts, not two lives.

Only one of those three numbers can ever change. The list is past tense, so a checked statement stays checked and a retake can move the score down and never up — Experienced, which starts at 40, is behind you for good. Ticking 11 more of the 100 statements would put you at 24, the top of Veteran.

Questions people actually ask

What does a Rice Purity Test score of 35 mean?

35 falls in the Wild Card band.

Is 35 a bad Rice Purity Test score?

No — "bad" is not a property the scale has. 35 means 65 of the 100 statements applied to you and 35 did not, at one point each, with no statement weighted above another. It is a count of experiences on one particular list, not a rating of them, and it cannot say which 65 you ticked.

How many more questions would move a 35 out of the Wild Card band?

11. Wild Card runs from 25 to 39, so ticking 11 more of the 100 statements takes the score to 24, the top of Veteran. It cannot move the other way: the statements are past tense, so a checked one stays checked.

How many questions does a score of 35 mean you checked?

65. Each of the 100 statements is worth one point, so the score is 100 minus the number of boxes ticked.
