Rice Purity Test score 36: Wild Card
Is 36 a good score?
There is no good or bad Rice Purity Test score. 36 means 64 of the 100 items were checked and 36 were left unchecked: the test opens at 100 and removes a point for each item you have done, so the number counts situations you have been in, not merit. Two people on 36 can have checked completely different items.
Three fifths to three quarters of the list applied.
Getting this far needs checks in every block — romance, sex, substances, and some of the risk and law-breaking questions. No single section of the list can carry a score this low on its own.
What checking 64 boxes actually covers
Scoring 36 means 64 of the 100 questions were answered yes. The list escalates as it goes, so a 36 usually covers all of romance & dating, parties & nightlife, online & modern life, alcohol & drugs and rule-breaking & mischief, with sexual experience and law & consequences partly checked.
Where 64 checks reach on the classic list
- 62.Had the police handcuff you?
- 63.Been arrested?
- 64.Been convicted of a crime?
65.Been convicted of a felony? — the first item a 36 leaves unchecked.
Question order is fixed, so this is where the count lands, not a guess about you.
A 36 sits 14 points below the halfway mark of the scale, so more of the questionnaire is checked than not.
What a 36 rules out
36 is reachable on all seven lists here, but it costs a different amount of life on each: 64 ticks on a hundred-item list like the Rice Purity Test, and 32 on a fifty-item one like the College Purity Test, where every tick costs two points. Same number, half the statements.
At 64 checks there is no block of the questionnaire left untouched: the count has reached every section, from the opening romance questions to the last items on the sheet. That is what separates the bottom of the scale from the rest of it — not intensity, but coverage.
On the band chart, 36 sits 11 points into Wild Card (25–39). 12 more checks move it down to 24 and into Veteran. One fewer would have been 37, and 40 is where Experienced begins.
Which parts of the list 64 checks can come from
Only 40 of the 100 statements sit outside the sexual block, so 64 checks means at least 24 of them are sexual items — that part is arithmetic, not inference. Each block below links to its opening question, and every statement has its own page.
One point either way
Is 36 a bad Rice Purity Test score?
No, and not because 36 is a comfortable number — because “bad” is not something this scale measures. It counts how many of 100 statements you have done, one point each, with the heaviest item on the sheet worth exactly what holding hands is worth. 36 means 64 statements applied to you and 36 did not. That is the entire claim it makes.
What it cannot tell you is which 64. Two people on 36 can have ticked entirely different statements — the score is a count, so it holds the number and drops the rest. If you are comparing yourself to someone, the comparison is only meaningful against a score from the same 100-statement list, and even then it compares two counts, not two lives.
How far 36 sits from the edges of Wild Card
Only one of those three numbers can ever change. The list is past tense, so a checked statement stays checked and a retake can move the score down and never up — Experienced, which starts at 40, is behind you for good. Ticking 12 more of the 100 statements would put you at 24, the top of Veteran.
36 against the full scale
9 bands cover 0 to 100. These are the Wild Card row that holds 36 and what sits either side of it — the full chart is on the score page.
| Score | Band | What the number describes | Detail page |
|---|---|---|---|
| 40–54 | Experienced | About half the list applied.Reaching this range takes more than one block: the sexual questions are largely checked and the substance questions have started. The far end of the list — arrests, hard drugs — is still mostly empty. | Score 47 — Experienced example page |
| 25–39 — the band your score falls in | Wild Card | Three fifths to three quarters of the list applied.Getting this far needs checks in every block — romance, sex, substances, and some of the risk and law-breaking questions. No single section of the list can carry a score this low on its own. | Score 32 — Wild Card example page |
| 10–24 | Veteran | Most of the list applied; what is left is the specific and the rare.At this end the unchecked statements are the particular ones: a particular substance, a particular arrest, a particular situation that simply has not come up. | Score 17 — Veteran example page |
Questions people actually ask
What does a Rice Purity Test score of 36 mean?
36 falls in the Wild Card band.
Is 36 a bad Rice Purity Test score?
No — "bad" is not a property the scale has. 36 means 64 of the 100 statements applied to you and 36 did not, at one point each, with no statement weighted above another. It is a count of experiences on one particular list, not a rating of them, and it cannot say which 64 you ticked.
How many more questions would move a 36 out of the Wild Card band?
12. Wild Card runs from 25 to 39, so ticking 12 more of the 100 statements takes the score to 24, the top of Veteran. It cannot move the other way: the statements are past tense, so a checked one stays checked.
How many questions does a score of 36 mean you checked?
64. Each of the 100 statements is worth one point, so the score is 100 minus the number of boxes ticked.
